Send as large and clear a photo as possible. The head in the photo should be at least as large as a nickel if possible. Studio or 35mm shots are preferable. The head is usually too small to see enough detail on a full length studio wallet size, but a wallet size with head and shoulders only is fine. A 5x7 of head and shoulders or an 8x10 full length studio is excellent. If you are taking a 35mm shot, try to fill up the frame with the face. If you want a full length portrait, take one photo of the pose and another close up of the face at the same angle. Two or more people may be in one portrait even if they are not in the same photo. You may use one head from one photo and someone else from another. Up to 5 people (head and shoulders) can be in one portrait.
It is priced per person so one person in pastel is $100, two people $200, etc. Be very specific about which photo to use if you send more than one. Also, always write down the color of the eyes and indicate if the hair or is lighter or darker than it appears in the photo. Colors on clothing may be changed as well as small things such as straightening up the hair, etc. Busy prints on clothing are usually not advisable. I will usually simplify it to a solid color unless requested otherwise.
Portrait Instructions - Animals
Portraits are done as close to life size as possible. Heads are usually done to mat out to 16x20 unless it is a very large animal. Full bodies mat out to any where from 16x20 to 24x30 according the size of the animal. If the photo is black and white, specify colors. Collars, bows, etc. can be changed in color if you wish. Try to send as large and clear a photo as possible. Try especially to get a good close-up of the face. If you have a particular pose for the body you like, you may use another close-up for the head as long as it is not turned in the opposite direction. Other photos may be helpful as reference, but are not necessary, especially if the photo is a close, clear one. Make sure you specify exactly which photo you primarily want to go by.
How to Order
Simply send the photos and detailed instructions of exactly what you want along with a check or money order. Make the check out for the price of the art work requested plus $8.00 for a tube to mail it in and shipping costs. You may make out your check for 1/2 of the price plus $8, but the tube will be sent C.O.D. for the remainder and will also include the C.O.D. charge. If you are dissatisfied for any reason, send the work back and corrections will be made. If still dissatisfied your money will be refunded. Average time to allow for delivery is 3 to 6 weeks. Allow more time before holidays, especially Christmas. Rush jobs are sometimes possible if requested. Send photos along with check or money order to:
